With his clever use of shading and heavy tones, Artist Adam Johnston makes this pencil drawing appear to come out of the paper. As your abilities within pencil drawing develop it is easier to achieve depth whereas if you are still a bit timid with tones then a drawing is more likely to come out a tad 2D. A nice little inspirational video of what can hope to be achieved with practice.
Using some blue mixed in with generous amounts of titanium white, Ross teaches the viewer how to paint very convincing waterfalls. In this first installment of the 19 part series you will learn about the use of the ‘fan brush’ and how it is applied to create the waterfall itself, alongside the splashes and foaming created. This is a very worthwhile series to explore if you want to become better and more confident with the brush and heavy loading of paint. As you would expect from Ross, his narrative is very full on and covers all the bases to guide you through to your finished masterpiece. Enjoy.
