This is a perfect acrylic mixing tutorial by award winning artist Will Kemp. This is an extremely informative and useful art video for the beginner and intermediate painter.
Simply using a palette knife and a selection of four different blues (or blue based) he combines with a cadmium yellow to bring you an extremely wide variety of green shades. Firstly is the burnt umber acrylic which brings a more earthy tone and is ideal for block shading or highlighting certain parts of a landscape painting for example. The carbon black has a blue undertone so only small amounts are needed when mixing this one and then comes the ultramarine and the phthalo blues which when mixed with the cadmium yellow produce a more vivid and luminous green. As a professional he has used the best paints too, the brand is ‘Golden Heavy Body’ acrylic paint. Have fun and enjoy mixing.
