Melting Crayons In The Shape Of A Heart

This is a charming little video which anybody can get involved with and shows the creation of a valentine’s heart silhouette lined with ultra heat melted colored crayons to produce a rather contemporary design which is incredibly unique.

Now what you will need is a glue gun, glue sticks, pre stretched canvas, a heat gun, some black acrylic paint and obviously your pack a wax colored crayons. The first stage is to paint or roller on the black acrylic paint onto your canvas and then allow it time to dry which if applied evenly enough to just cover the canvas you can expect about 45 mins till fully dried. Next it is time to glue the crayons in whichever order strikes your fancy into the the shape of a heart with the heated glue gun and again allow time for the glue to set as you don’t want your nicely arranged colored crayons falling off later down the line.

Use your heat gun to gradually melt the crayons  allowing gravity to pull the melted wax towards the floor whilst at the same time you are slowly rotating the canvas to get the desired effect consistently all the way around the edge of the heart. With an almost instant drying time you will find that once your last crayon has been melted you are ready to deliver your creation to that special someone. Have fun and see what crazy color combinations you can evoke.

    2. As an artist I think you can use any surface as long as the glue can get a grip on that surface. And be sure that it’s something that won’t melt (plastic could perhaps melt wen you attack it with a heatgun). And otherwise, just try out and have fun! c:

    4. Easy way to get the wrappers off is to soak them in moderately hot water , more than warm less than OW! , the wrappers will literally unwrap and you can take them off in one piece , for all those crayons it’d take about 10 mins . Hope this helps

    5. I’ve been wanting to try this, but I hate the look of the original crayons still being on the canvas, so I’ve not been bothering about it… but now I think I’ll go ahead with it, just not use a strong glue and then pick them off again afterwars..or something..xD

    6. Elmer’s glue would take forever to dry and probably melt once you hit it with the blow dryer or heat gun. Hot glue dries SO much faster (within a minute, really) and won’t melt when hit with a blow dryer (it needs a lot more heat to melt hot glue).

    7. While I quite like your idea, I can’t help feeling it would have looked a bit better on a larger canvas and with the crayons in a gradient or pattern. Maybe it’s just personal preference though. I do love that your heart was off-center and tilted! Most heart shaped melted crayon art is set square in the middle of the canvas. =]]

    8. Love this. I have a question-when I paint my canvas black, there are always brush strokes once it has dried. Even if I use gesso or go over it at the end in strokes going all the same direction, it still dries with brushstrokes. How did you get your canvas to turn out so smooth after you painted it?

    9. I think it would have been kinda cute if you would’ve put the crayon wrappers scattered around the outside of the heart. Not too many, too much less. Just right! 😀 It’s still really cute! I’ll see if I can do it one day.

    10. Frig she doesn’t seem fat and even if she was that doesnt mean she would be alone it would mean her boyfriend loves her the way she is your just self conscious and think putting someone down will make you feel better and u don’t have to comment that if a child watches this they might think its ok to say that and it’s not so keep your opinion to yourself?thx

    11. I don’t think there is a such major as draw a perfect heart every time. These are just basic things you should learn to do if your going to get a fine art major. A true artist can replicate what they see with no difficulty.

    12. I made this comment 4 months ago. Obviously she’s a graduate, I believe she is, therefore they thought she was good enough and did well. So whatever, it’s a fucking heart. Who gives a damn, if it’s such a big deal build a fucking bridge and get over it.

    13. haaha okay. how about you apply to my school and get in. since apparently you know everything. cause its not like they asses you on your marks, then portfolio, then interview you on your knowledge of art and see your personality or anything then decide if you get in or not, and its not like 20% of the people who applied get in or anything.

    15. first: also really fat people can get boyfriends and girlfriends, because they can be cool people, or -imagine- some guys (or girls) even like it, if they get something to touch. and: go, get a life, because then you might find out, that defining the value of a person in if he or she has a relationship with a man is definitly a sign of low self-esteem.

    16. Being fat doesn’t make you unlovable you shallow little shit wad! I’d rather be fat than be as ugly as you are on the inside.. there’s no escaping that kind of turn off! It’s just as painful to be talked about for being thin as it is for being overweight. Keep your big mouth quiet if you can’t say good things to people. You’re one of the reasons this world sucks, we should praise each other, not beat each other down all the time. You needed to be called out!

    17. I saw the vanitas show dirung frieze week and theres no question you read it correctly michael, it just goes to show how difficult it can(or cannot) be to be purely objective about one’s own taste and decisions, there must be a lesson in there somewhere strange that he cant see it loved the artwork though

    18. I’m not normally a fan of ilttusralions in this sort of style, I see it a lot and it’s just not something that appeals to me, no matter how good it is, to me it’s too busy but there’s something different about these ilttusralions that I quite like, perhaps its the colours and subjects. I like the mix of illustration styles and additional textures, it just brings the whole image out and makes it more interesting.

    21. Then how do you get inspiration? Everything you’ve seen or heard has been thought of or made by someone else. it’s someone elses work and you’re using it to make something of your own. I understand “follow the drift of your heart as you draw” because that’s basically your own creativity which everyone has but without inspiration art is Very difficult.

Now you can shove your hateful comments up your twat and rotate on em, Because that the only action you’re gonna get with your hateful attitude and evil comments.
