The ‘Knit Stitch’ For Beginners

Beginner, Intermediate, Textiles | 19 Sep, 2012

In this video you can expect to learn just how to create the most common and basic stitch in knitting, the ‘knit stitch’. The lady already has 6 stitches made off and shows you how she achieved them, and also how you can develop more from that starting point. Good narration throughout and a concise step by step approach makes this a great starting platform for beginners.

    1. @agpeacelover2010 You pull it through the loop closest to the end of the needle you hold in your left hand. After you pull it through, you just pull it off the left needle. Try watching that step over a few more times and see if you get it. good luck!

    4. My great grandmother left me a bunch of knitting things when she passed, and I’ve always wanted to learn. No matter how many videos I had watched, I could never figure it out! But THIS! THIS taught me in five minutes what I couldn’t figure out in the past, oh, five years. THANK YOU!

    5. I want to come out of the computer and kiss you. YOU TAUGHT ME HOW TO KNIT!! I have been trying and trying and trying for at least a week, since I got my needles and yarn, and I was just unable, no matter how many sites and vids I used, to learn… And you taught me in like… 10 minutes. I am on my way to knitting a scarf now 😀 Thank you so much!!!

    7. You can try to pull the stitch tight after each stitch (but this is time consuming if you have to do it after each stitch).Keep in mind that some knitters naturally have a “tighter” stitch and other’s will have a “looser” stitch. If you find you are a “loose knitter”, you may want to try using a smaller size needle OR a thicker yarn and see how that turns out. Hope this helps!
