The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.Almost anyone can use it to create beautiful images. It increases focus and creativity, provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being. The Zentangle Method is enjoyed all over this world across a wide range of skills, interests and ages.
It was developed by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts of Zentangle, Inc
One day, Maria told Rick what she experienced as she drew background patterns on a manuscript she was creating. She described her feelings of timelessness, freedom and well-being and complete focus on what she was doing with no thought or worry about anything else.
“You’re describing meditation,” Rick said.
Rick and Maria wondered if they could create a simple system so others might enjoy a similar experience. And so began the journey towards discovering this simple and elegant system called the Zentangle Method.
Little did they know then that it would grow this quickly and touch as many lives in as many ways as it has.
Here is another example of Zentangle
Remember its relaxing, creative and anyone can draw them. Even is you are not a budding artist.† Besides everyone has doodled at some point in their life
Looking for a fun night out then painting with a Twist is the answer. Bring your favorite bottle of wine or beverage, invite your friends, and enjoy step-by-step instruction with experienced and enthusiastic local artists. Youíll leave with a one-of-a-kind creation and a new found talent youíll want to explore.
After Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, friends Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney found a way to twist a tragedy into a purpose. The storm flooded Deano’s house and destroyed Maloney’s husband’s three truck stops in Mandeville, La., but the two fundraising enthusiasts wanted to focus on helping their community recover.
Knowing their neighbors needed to destress, they thought it’d be fun to hold events where people could learn to paint, drink wine and relax. They jointly invested $10,000 and, in 2007, opened Painting with a Twist, which offered two- to three-hour painting classes four times a week. They kept prices low, $35 to $45. “It was bring your own wine. We supplied everything else,” said Maloney. Once a month, they donated a day’s worth of sales to charity.
The business did well enough for Maloney and Deano to expand: Today they own 4 locations and the business has 81 franchise locations nationwide.
“In a world of mass technology, where things are bombarding us every second, we want to let people have a normal, relaxing and meaningful experience for a few hours,” said Maloney.
Be sure to look out for a venue near you offering this different and exciting painting experience or set one up of your own.

Healing through art, is a way for people who may be lonely, sick or suffer from disabilities or even cancer to find some inner peace, and to perhaps for a few hours a week to leave behind what they are feeling and thinking by creating and experimenting with art. When they do this they feel less anxious and stressed, by relaxing more they are able to communicate more to people about how they are feeling and also may feel less pain and therefore, may be able to reduce the amount of pain management or other medications that they may need to take There are a number of areas in which you can work through to aid you in finding some inner peace. The first is explore what joy is and how we feel it. Its important to know what things can bring us joy and how we can focus ourselves on these areas, so that we can lift ourselves if only for a short period of time, into a more happy place.Music is also a great healer and it lifts out spirits, you have heard the saying about dancing as if no one can see you. Give it a go, put your favorite music on and get up and have a good dance, it makes you feel good and no one is looking so who cares if you have two left feet. Writing is another great way to find some escapism (by danny). You can make your very own stories, invent your own characters and write about anything that interests you. As we write, we forget about our being and exist only in the words that we write, until we have finished and then we return to our own surroundings again.
So by doing all these things we feel and are much happier and we are much stronger inside and out and are more able to cope with all of life’s ups and downs.
So whats the difference between curing and healing? Well curing is when we have taken medications or attended to small cuts and bruises and by doing so we have cured ourselves. Healing, although we tend to think about a wound as healing, can be an internal process and an external process. Say for instance you had major surgery, the wounds may have healed, but the trauma and the anxiety and the fear still exists that you had before the op and after. So this type of healing works on your mind and body, and helps to elevate and try to remove those fears that you have, it is a longer process, but one with the right skills and attention, will enable a person to live a normal life without the added worry anymore.
So being artistic can be performed by anyone and you don’t have to be a genius at it, but it is an excellent way to help you in your life and to also maybe meet other people, who may feel the same as you, so you have someone to share your experiences with and work towards being healed through art.
