Metal Tree Sculptures

Have you ever considered using a blowtorch steel rod and piping to make a 3D Sculpture? This short video tutorial uses trees as the subject matter and teaches you some ideas for how to extend an existing piece of structural metal artwork as well as offer suggestions on how to actually begin with the process to start your composition.

The tutorial is a collection of small snippets of information covering subject matter like polishing, using a variety of metals like steel, copper and bronze and how and why to use the blowtorch to attach the metals and even soften the edges (by brock). You can see how detailed and fantastically delicate the branch region of the tree has been constructed and works beautifully with the heavily indented textural area around the base of the tree stump.

All these techniques are open for exploration and can be elaborated greatly depending on the artist’s/sculptor’s desired design requirements so with this in mind I believe this is a great short video promoting an introduction to metal work and sculpture.

See the top link on the left side of my channel for the BANNED video link on a Russian website, but it’s in English. Consider it a public service announcement.
