    3. Hi, um,*scrolls upward*, Mark, could you explain your opinion on the way you should move your pencil? I know it doesn’t seem important, in fact, it probably isn’t important, but I’m curious because my art teacher insists on excess elbow movements, and I’d appreciate somebody else’s opinion.

    4. @smileytheperson How you hold your pencil is very important! You use (excessive) elbow movement instead of many wrist movements because it’s healthier for you. Many wrist movements, which happens during sketching, causes RSI (and can paralyze your drawing hand). You also start drawing bigger and then you can put more details in the artwork and you can make more perfect circles, lines etc. because the elbow is better in such movement. The source is my experience and my art school.

    5. @MrHaRehari No one is born with talent, trust me. You may be born with interest in art, but that doesn’t mean that you’ll develop an instant talent for it. If you can’t draw realistically, then it may just not be your style. There is no right or wrong way to draw. Obtaining a talent for realistic drawing takes years. Not even I get it truly realistic; I just draw more realistic anime, but not portrait perfect.Remeber, this guy is has had years of practice. Continue to draw always! ^^

    7. @LadyLiveLol If you’re talking about the white kneaded eraser that popped up at one point that’s what that is but to smooth out the pencil lines he just used his finger. His finger wasn’t really all that it was to it though; the pencil strokes were just well balanced to give off such a smooth feeling. ( I just spoke like an art guru T-T )

    8. This is wonderful and an excellent way of showing the progression of a character’s age. I’ve always had trouble with drawing various ages, especially babies and young children (never really tried though, ha ha). So, thank you thank you for doing and posting something like this.

    10. I like this video….BUT…..as a person gets older I notice the mouth gets highlighted with “paranthese”, to either side of it. Even some people in their twenties get these facial lines & I would love to see a tutorial on faces with these lines like you have shown here. Mainly because I have seen a number of folks that get these lines in earlier years in life & as they get into around their late 50’s, 60’s or 70’s these lines become more pronounced! Thanks for the videos though that are great!!

    14. Love you Mark. I’m not criticizing you or anything, but here’s a cool fact:The eyes from a baby to adulthood doesn’t get smaller. The eyes are the only thing on our face that stay the same size from birth and on. Our other features just grow larger! <3 Just thought that could be an interesting fact.Love ya! <3

    17. Thanks so much for sharing. I just started drawing yesterday and I stumbled on your videos. Your are so very good and I can’t believe I followed you step by step and I draw the baby. and she actually looks like her. mine probably just looks a slight bit older but oh my God, I did it. Can’t believe it because all my life I look up to people who could draw, I never tried because I did not think I possibly could do it. But by golly, I did it. Thank you, so much. i will continue to learn from these.

    19. As you drew the teen, I promise, I thought I knew that girl. Amazing drawings, by the way. But when I looked in her eyes, in not at, (I know this sounds crazy) I felt in the presence of someone. Then, as you drew the adult one, and that one eye was peeking at thd camera, it hit me. I saw me in that drawing.

    20. My drawing teacher never allowed me to shade using the “finger technique” . She always told me that it’s non-artistic and that even a kindergarten child would be able to shade that way so it’s nothing special. However, I still respect your work, Mr. Crilley. Good luck !
