Jamie Hart: Hand Crafted Wood Sculptures Based Organically On Female Form
Dorset (UK) based artist Jamie Hart is interviewed by Field and Rural Life Magazine at one of his art exhibitions. He is asked questions like his inspirations for his designs and why does he use wood to essentially capture an organic female form.
Hart actively goes out looking for wood, mainly oak, in its decaying state and then has to visualise it as a form. He looks for qualities in the wood like density, form, natural structure, extrusions and hollows because all of these make up the essence of his organic working manner. It is lovely to see an artist working with naturally sourced materials also and it is obvious that he really enjoys capturing the beauty of anatomy within wood sculpture.
